My True Identity – Rajdeep Sandhu

Hello everyone, my name is Rajdeep Sandhu. I have lived the entire 15 years of my life here in Surrey and currently attend Panorama Ridge Secondary. I would call myself a science fanatic, as I have always enjoyed science class ever since elementary school. Even though I am taking all three sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics), my definite favorite would be chemistry. The reason behind this is that I find it fascinating to work with different elements and compounds an create different products.

One science achievement that I am proud of, occurred last year when I won our schools award for the best science student of the year. Besides that, I have also won the award to the highest mark in last years Cayley Math Contest at our school. Besides science another subject I enjoying learning about is computer programming. I do this mainly outside of school, as online courses. So far have learned about web development by completing several courses revolving around HTML and CSS. Now I am trying to learn the basics about Python and Java.

Outside of school, studying, and science, one thing that I really like to do is play sports. In particular, soccer as I have been playing since I was around 7 or 8. Other than soccer I really like to play basketball and hockey. I do not play on a proper team, just in the park with friends. Besides sports, another way I pass time is by watching movies, especially action and adventure movies. I would have to say that my two favorite movie series are the Fast and Furious franchise and the Marvel movies.

As for what my future holds, I do not really know. I want to go into a field related to science or math and that is all about all I can say. To tell the truth, the reason behind this is that I have not really given it much thought and do not know much about the different types of jobs out there. That is kind of the reason I signed up for FSL (besides my passion for science), I saw it as an opportunity to explore what is out there. Some jobs that seem interesting to me are medical based jobs where you get to help others, or something in engineering where you get to create and make new things.
