Why hello there.
If you don’t know who I am, and are as confused as I am in the picture to the left, allow me to introduce myself.
Name: Elizabeth Zhou
School: Richmond Christian Secondary
Grade: Eleven
Okay Eliz, prove that you’re not a robot.
There. I’ve done it.
If you’re looking for a discernable personality, I’d describe myself as passionate and driven. Most of what I do outside of school centers around using language to my advantage: I’m a competitive debater, and I teach debate as well as piano in my spare time. When I’m not talking, you can find me watching medical documentaries on Netflix, completing crossword puzzle after crossword puzzle, or thinking up new puns to tell my friends.
I try to come up with science puns “periodically”, but sometimes, the good ones just “argon”.
So why FSL?
I’ve always loved science, but before this, many of the science programs I looked into were quite limited in what they introduced their students to. It was only about coding or only about robotics, and I wanted a little more than that.
The diversity of FSL’s program is what really drew me to it. Simply, I see FSL as an invaluable opportunity to step beyond the limitations of the BC science curriculum and to join a network of aspiring leaders with whom I share interests with. But beyond that, I look forward to hearing diverse ideas from other members and having my own thoughts challenged and debated. Above all else, I hope that this program will leave me with a greater understanding and appreciation for real-life applications of the sciences, all while meeting experts who have already taken their knowledge of these subjects to the next level.
You’ve reached the end; thanks for reading!
