Recently, another H. sapiens specimen has been apprehended in Surrey, BC. Currently in grade eleven, Flora Guo can often be found in her natural habitat, Semiahmoo Secondary School, where she spends a significant portion of her waking time. An especially social animal, it is quite rare to find Flora without the company of her fellow H. sapiens. She resides with three other humans, including her younger brother.
Who am I reading about?
“So why indeed is this particular specimen so intriguing?”, readers may ask. The answer is precisely that she is not. This individual is not extraordinary in any field, but is instead characterized by her interests and irrational habits. These include, but are not limited to Flora’s:
- Fondness of music, evident by her playing of piano and trombone (although sometimes not the most pleasant to observe).
- Curiosity surrounding all things science – especially biology and physics! Much of her time is spent updating herself on the latest innovations in these fields (hint: YouTube), as well as helping run the school science club. In addition, she enjoys competing in science competitions across the Lower Mainland.
- Highly irregular sleep schedule, unpredictable by conventional means – Ten hours? Four hours? Who knows?
- Constant stream of noise emitted from her mouth, with many of her peers questioning her ability to simply cease speaking. Although at times extremely cumbersome, she manages to put her mouth to some use with the Semiahmoo debate club.
- High hopes for the future. Despite her chronic indecisiveness, she is currently hoping to pursue engineering following high school.
All in all, Flora continues to pursue her hobbies and interests each and every day. Though she is in high school, she tries to work toward her ambitions one step at a time, and have a good time along the way.
