The terrifying science behind the “World’s most famous equation” (1).
Are you a fed-up mad scientist who has decided that he/she has had enough with the injustices in the world? Did you shudder when you heard those Christmas commercials start to be played on the radio, on November 1st? Did your heart sink when you looked at the weather report and saw nothing but rain for the next 14 days? Forget that you were supposed to change your clock over the weekend and you woke up an hour early? NO MORE INJUSTICE! With my all new Mega-Mass-Explosifier, YOU can send a message to those foul marketers, weathermen, and Horologists (studiers of time-keeping); YOU CAN RULE THE WORLD!
Sounds like science-fiction? Actually, it’s science-fact. One of the most terrifying scientific discoveries in history is hidden in one of the World’s most famous equation: E=mc^2. Proposed by Einstein in 1905, this Equation dictates that even an infinitesimal quantity of mass contains an incredibly large amount of energy. It states the energy of anything that has mass is equal to its weight in kilograms twice multiplied by the speed of light.
Now back to my revolutionary Mega-Mass-Explosifier. Imagine that you have 1kg (kilogram) of something. A science textbook for example weighs roughly 1kg. The energy that would be released would look something like this:
This is roughly the same amount of energy released by 21,500 kilotons of TNT, or 2.63 billion Litres of gasoline. To put this amount into perspective, the nuclear bomb dropped on Nagasaki released roughly 20 kilotons of energy. This detonation would be 1000 times more powerful.
Using one of my favourite websites, NUKEMAP, I mapped how a detonation this large would play out. I detonated this monstrosity in the center of the lovely city of Vancouver. Well, lovely before I destroyed it.
The initial detonation would flatten the city from Vancouver Airport to the Port Mann bridge. Wahoo! No more traffic!
The fireball from the blast would almost top 10km in diameter.
The pressure blast would almost reach from the east coast of Vancouver Island to Langley. This would shatter windows and rid most people of their hearing. Now at least you don’t have to listen to the weatherman.
The Thermal radiation wave would almost reach Abbotsford, leaving anyone inside it with 3rddegree burns and severe scaring. I would invest in some good aloe Vera.
The initial fatalities would almost reach 1 million with nearly 500,000 more injured.
Yikes. That’s a lot of damage. I better make sure that it doesn’t accidentally detona….
Uh oh…
