Hi, everyone! I’m Gabby Salumbre! I’m 16 years old and currently in Grade 11 at Holy Cross Regional High School. My immediate family consists of my parents and my younger sister, Sarah. I am Filipino-Chinese, but I’ve lived in Canada my whole life.
My favourite colour is bright pink and my favourite food is apple pie with ice cream. (Does that count as two foods?) I love almost all types of animals, but if I had to choose one as my favourite, I think it would be penguins. Easter is my favourite holiday, but Christmas is a close second.
I’m part of a number of clubs in my school, including the Mathletes team, the Friends Club (not referring to the TV show), the Eco-Justice Club, the Calligraphy Club, and the Student Voice Council. Also, I take piano lessons and am in RCM Level 9 piano. I’ve earned a blue belt in taekwondo and I like to swim and play tennis as well.
In my spare time, I can usually be found reading (and obsessing over) books, doodling on random pieces of paper, reading about science on the Internet, doing calligraphy, baking delicious treats, or spending time with my friends and family. Additionally, I am passionate about volunteering, especially with kids, because I like helping others and trying to make the world a better place.
One fun fact about me is that I have a hidden talent: making balloon animals! Another interesting, but possibly creepy, fact about me is that I was born exactly at midnight.
My favourite types of science are genetics, neuroscience, and psychology! As you can see, I am really into the biology area of science. Furthermore, my future career aspiration is to be a pediatrician.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading! Thanks for your time! – Gabby
