CASE FILE: Lovdeep Citrine
September 28th, 2014
Overview of the Case:
At 1:35PM on September 22, officers received a call from Canada’s newest national airline, Flying Colors’s, field. The officers on site initially determined that there was no immediate danger, and they called emergency personnel.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Lovdeep died due to exsanguination. Bruising, haematoma formation, and frank haemorrhage were all present from the genitourinary and gastrointestinal tracts. No metabolic acidosis was found, and the kidney and liver were in satisfactory condition.
In the following hours, information about Lovdeep was collected. News articles were published about the victim . Interviews of Lovdeep’s closest family, friends, and other acquaintances were conducted, and tweets revolving around Lovdeep’s personal life, friends, and families were also gathered. The interviews can be found at here, and here.
Lovdeep Citrine was pronounced dead at 2:17 PM. He was found in a new 777 airplane bathroom slumped across the sink. A piece of mirror was stuck in his shoulder. The bathroom was in shambles, with a broken mirror, the faucet torn off, and footprints found on the wall. There was a tremendous amount of blood found both around the body and at the scene of the crime. Drops were found on the walls, ceiling, and floor, as well as smears by the door
Yoyo Champagne is the prime suspect in this case. As the owner of a rival airline, Skylette, Yoyo displayed resentful feelings towards the victim when she publicly stated that Lovdeep attempted to bribe politicians to advance his own airline. Skylette is conveniently located next door to Flying Colours, the victim’s airline. Yoyo was also very outspoken about her disdain of Lovdeep’s “crooked business practices” after the event of his death.
The second suspect, Austin Khaki, is the owner of the popular restaurant, Fantastic Sensational Luxury. It is at this restaurant where Lovdeep frequented for major announcements of his life milestones, such as the purchase of his new airline, and the pregnancy of his wife Carol. Austin’s wife was rumoured to have been killed by the Lovdeep’s drunk driving, and Austin’s deep rooted dislike for Lovdeep is shown when quoted to “hate [Lovdeep]”.
A third suspect in this case is none other than Lovdeep’s son, Christopher Citrine. Christopher was aged 25 and working as an airplane mechanic at the time of Lovdeep’s murder. The family dynamics of the Citrine family was complicated with a muddy history. His current stepmother, was a past girlfriend, and his father met Carol at his 25th birthday party. Lovdeep also bought out Christopher’s internet computer, resulting in his current hated job as a mechanic. Christopher’s relationship with his father was not ideal, and he “[doesn’t] think [he’ll] miss him”, confirming his apathetic feelings towards Lovdeep.
Fingerprints from the airplane bathroom door handle, arsenic and drain cleaner containers from the Skylette offices, and rat poison containers from FSL were all taken to be examined. Two sets of fingerprints on rat poison containers in the FSL restaurant were found belonging to Austin Khaki and Mulan Vermillion. The fingerprints found on the arsenic vial in rival airline, Skylette’s offices, revealed to be Yoyo Chamagne. No fingerprints were found on the drain cleaner, and the results from the airplane bathroom door handle were inconclusive.
Initially, DNA samples were found in two places; the degraded gloves near the drain cleaner found in the crime scene and one blood drop near the bathroom door. DNA was also collected from the victim, his friends, family, and acquaintances. Through electrophoresis, it was found that Yoyo Champagne’s DNA were present on the degraded gloves, which was left beside the drain cleaner that was used to degrade blood splatters on the bathroom door. The blood drop was a match with Christopher Citrine, who works on airplanes as a mechanic and is careless with his work. Recently, other blood drops were found at the edge of the crime scene boundary near the airplane entry door. The analysis was not available, but it is known that they are from someone unrelated to Lovdeep.
An extensive analysis of the victim’s stomach contents was also done through observation, an acidity test, and thin layer chromatography (TLC). Through this, two possible substances identified were arsenic and phosphorus, which leads us to believe that the arsenic vial found in Yoyo Champagne’s workplace is likely to be the cause of the ultimately death of Lovdeep.
Based on the evidence, it is probable that Yoyo Champagne is guilty of Lovdeep Citrine’s murder. There is a great amount of forensic evidence that suggests Yoyo’s involvement, including fingerprints on an arsenic vial found in her workplace, Skylette, and DNA on the gloves which were used to degrade blood splattered on the bathroom door of the crime scene. Although one drop of Christopher Citrine’s blood was also found at the bathroom door, it is expected of his job as a negligent airplane mechanic. Additionally, there were a greater amount of blood drops found at the crime scene that belonged to someone unrelated to Lovdeep. Christopher’s blood can be explained by his work at the airline, but Yoyo’s DNA being found in Lovdeep’s airplane is suspicious as she works for a rival airline. The forensic evidence is not great enough to pin Christopher as the murderer, and ultimately, Yoyo’s outspoken criticism and abhorence towards Lovdeep as a rival company is a great indication of her reasoning for murder.
