Deforestation is an environmental issue that occurs in our world. It effects us and our environment. Deforestation leads to many problems emerging. Many of which include climate change, fewer crops, and increased greenhouse gases. 30% of the world is trees. These areas provide a lot to the ecosystem. In other words, the forests can provide food, shelter and most importantly oxygen. However, deforestation hinders the processes in which carbon dioxide is removed from the air. As a result, increases the emissions of greenhouse gases. Between the 1600s and the 1800s, half of the forest in the eastern part of North America were cleared. The first cause of deforestation is agriculture, which accounts for 80%. 20% is from human infrastructures. If we keep cutting down forests, the amount of carbon dioxide will increase. Therefore, the temperature of the world will increase and ecosystems will fail.
Solutions and How We Can Fix It
Fortunately, it can be prevented. Countries like Canada have laws to protect trees and forests. Laws can help regulate wood harvesting. Consequently, controlling the amount of trees we cut down. Moreover, an different way to prevent deforestation is to stop wasting paper. About 640 million trees account for the amount paper thrown out every year. Recycling and reusing old paper is one way to reduce paper usage. To clarify, we can save a lot of trees if we can continue to recycle paper. In addition, I hope we can fix or find a different solution to deforestation.
